According to Reader’s Digest, most men fall in love faster than most women. On average, men say “I love you,” as early as 88 days into a new relationship. Of course, men fall in love at different speeds depending on age, the other person, and circumstance.
How Long Does It Take To Fall in Love (Psychology)
Two men can fall in love at different rates for different reasons, even if they’re with the same woman. On average, though, this article suggests that it takes about four months to fall into true love.
Both genders may experience infatuation differently than romantic love.
The idea of chemical attraction may lead to more immediate feelings of infatuation before true love sets in later on. The length between these two phases varies from person to person as well, making every aspect of how quickly men fall in love complicated and unique.
Another factor is time spent together during courtship. It’s possible for men to fall in love faster when courting a woman if they feel a greater sense of urgency to do so. Men who court for longer may also fall in love more intensely, but it typically takes them longer to reach this stage.
Signs a Man Is Falling in Love with a Woman
Even though men may say “I love you” first, women are typically more in tune with how quickly their partner is falling in love.
The following signs can indicate that a man is starting to fall for his significant other:
- He becomes defensive when other people flirt with her
- He starts doing kind things out of the blue
- He becomes more focused on making you happy
- His behavior changes toward her father or any other male figure/authority figure
- He enjoys talking to other people about her
- His phone battery dies quickly, he’s always on his phone, or he becomes secretive about it
- His sleep schedule changes
- His behavior changes in a sudden way from how he normally acts
- He starts talking about the future (moving in together, marriage, kids, etc)
- He starts referring to the two of you as “we”
Why Do Guys Fall in Love So Fast?
Men are highly visual creatures so they first get attracted to physical beauty. They also get emotionally attached quickly if they really like a woman. Since men are biologically hardwired to protect and provide, they develop strong emotional and psychological connections very quickly.
Do Younger Guys Fall in Love Faster or Slower?
Most love experts suggest that younger guys fall in love faster. When men are young, they experience extreme emotional swings that can accelerate romantic feelings into full-on love.
This is often referred to as puppy love or even infatuation.
Sometimes that is the case, but it can also be authentic love that comes on strong because of their younger age.
Do Older Guys Fall in Love Faster or Slower?
Older guys tend to fall in love slower than younger men but faster than middle-aged men. Older men know often themselves better, are more comfortable with emotional connection, and realize that time is not unlimited.
They want to make the most of every last moment with a special person.
That’s why it’s important to be sensitive to the pace at which a guy is moving in order to avoid any miscommunication.
Do All Guys Fall in Love at The Same Rate?
The short answer is no, they don’t. Men can fall in love very quickly and their brains are wired very differently than women when it comes to romantic connections and relationships.
Men love at different speeds but, generally speaking, men fall for women they like very quickly.
How Fast Do Men Really Fall in Love?
Some guys will say “I love you” on the first date. That’s probably too fast. Some won’t say it until after many months or years of dating. Referring back to the Reader’s Digest article, men usually profess love within 3 months (or less).
This can be generally broken down into five stages:
Stage 1: First date meeting
This is the first meeting, so a man is enticed by a woman’s looks and personality.
Stage 2: Second or third date meeting
During this stage, men are just getting comfortable with women’s company and having fun while building their trust quotient together.
Stage 3: Romantic attraction
This is when men start to share intimate feelings with women. Typically, the physical intimacy also becomes more intense.
Stage 4: Making future plans together
Men become serious about their relationship and more comfortable stating it publically. They begin to see a woman as a potential life-long partner.
Stage 5: Proclaiming love
Now that a man has established himself in the relationship, he begins to fall in love and does so rather quickly. Once he falls, he falls hard.
How to Make a Man Fall in Love With You Faster
If you want your man to fall for you faster, the best thing to do is be yourself.
Avoid playing games and enjoy time with him as much as possible. Don’t ask him to commit too early, but make sure that he doesn’t feel like you’re going to cheat on him either. Communicate openly and have fun together.
Men fall for women who establish themselves as confident. Showing off your assets is one way to do this, but you have to be smart about it too. For example, if a man prefers curvy women, don’t wear revealing clothes that are more appropriate for thin women.
Although confidence is key and will certainly make him love you faster, there are other things that men focus on:
Similar background: If a man has grown up with the same values and lifestyle as you, he’ll feel much more comfortable in your relationship and will likely fall deeper in love faster than if they were different from you (e.g., religious beliefs).
Complementary lifestyles: If a man’s lifestyle is very busy and he travels a lot, a woman who doesn’t mind traveling to see him or going out of her way when she has time will help him fall for her faster.
Genuine interest: When men feel that women care about their passions, they find it easier to love them. This goes beyond simply asking about his job but trying to understand why he enjoys doing what he does and sharing in common interests with him.
