#GoodKarma #GoodCause: Jimmy Fund!

A hoi hoi mateys ...

I love, love, love having this crazy cool platform where I can talk about crazy cool things; this is definitely one of them. Steve has been very kind to my family over the years - and I wanted to take a minute to share with you all an email he sent out looking for donations for the Jimmy Fund. It is definitely worth the 15.7 seconds it will take you to read it - and the 27.3 seconds it will take you to click donate.

Doing good feels good ... and it's good karma - which can't be bad, right? =)

Dear Friends and Family,

As many of you know, over the last 13 years Shari, Jake, Aliza and I have participated in fund raising for the Jimmy Fund.  We started with the kids at the Boston Walkathon when one of Aliza’s friends, then 2, was diagnosed with brain cancer.  Over the last seven years, Shari has twice run 26.2 miles as a member of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute Boston Marathon team.  Once again, on August 7th, I will embark on my eleventh 198 mile, 2-day trek from Sturbridge to Provincetown in another Jimmy Fund Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) event to further continue my fundraising effort in the fight against cancer.

Unfortunately, we all know someone who has or had cancer.  For some, the advancements made in research, treatment and training have made a major difference.  For others, the words “there is no cure” are all that medicine can offer.

I am writing to ask for your financial support in taking yet another small step towards finding “the cure”.  In August, I will ride with thousands of others in the PMC in order to raise money for the Jimmy Fund, Dana Farber’s largest fund raising effort.  Over the last 30 years, the PMC has raised an amazing $270+ million for cancer research and patient care. For 2010, the overall goal has been raised to $31 million of which 99+% will go directly to the Jimmy Fund.

Sincere and grateful thanks to all of you that supported my efforts in 2009 and helped me raise over $7,500.  For the 2010 Pan-Mass Challenge, I hope to raise an additional $7,500.  Thank you in advance for contributing whatever you can to this very worthy cause.  Please click on this link http://www.pmc.org/profile/SH0044 or copy and paste it on to your internet browser, to make an online gift.  If you prefer, you can mail your tax-deductible gift, made payable to PMC/Jimmy Fund to 72 Oak Hill Drive, Sharon, MA 02067.

Thank you for your support,

Steve Holstein
