... and #BP means what?

After hearing that the US has started a criminal investigation, I thought that I would come up with a list of alternate meanings for BP or British Petroleum.

I’m listing off my top five favorite new meanings for BP starting with number 5.

 5. Big Problems

BP is in store for some big problems, such as criminal prosecution and monetary liability. Don’t forget that BP has caused problems in the Gulf Coast that may be felt for years to come.

 4. Broken Pipe

The cause of the large leak, which as far as I’m concerned, was completely avoidable. Regular maintenance and a crew focused on safety would have stopped this from happening.

 3. Bubbling Petrochemicals

Nothing like a little bubblin’ crude. Texas T. Black gold. Only this isn’t really a good thing. It’s wreaking havoc on a fishing and tourism economy.

Memorial Day. Louisanna’s beaches were empty because they are contaminated with oil. The fishing boats were in the harbor. Fishermen are worried that the oil will be affecting the fish for years to come. The tourism was down.  Hotels were empty. Nobody was visiting.

 2. Bayous Polluted

It’s not bad enough that the bayous are disappearing at a rate of a football field a year. Now, BP has allowed the oil to get into the bayous. It’s not only there but it is now threatening the Pensacola coast. This is one huge mess.

 1. Bloody Profiteers

Please reread this alternative meaning with a fake British accent and then continue reading. This was a play on the fact that BP is a British company.

It has been thought that BP had underestimated the extent to which the oil was pouring out of the leak. They were trying to escape criminal liability. It just makes me sick.

As the leak drags on for days, weeks or months longer, the situation grows more dire for all those involved.
