All expense paid trip to Bangladesh ... for being a #nerd??
Yesterday was hands down one of the strangest days ever.
I am officially moving out of my apartment. Which is kinda cool, kinda scary. I knew I didn't belong here anymore - yet I didn't really know what to do. I travel so, so, much - and somehow justifying my rent for being home a few nights for 7 hours of sleep on a bed I didn't really care about seemed weird. I have just become so FOCUSED on what I need to do, and the steps I need to take have become so clear.
When I sat down and actually thought about this, I realized pretty quickly that I didn't actually need an apartment. My life is traveling celebrating Unapologetic Awesomeness. I have absolutely no attachment to material things courtesy of losing everything I owned back in July of '07 in a massive cockroach infestation (yeahhhh put that in your pipe and smoke it! That was some gnarly shiznat!!). SO! I made the decision that I wanted to live in various extended stay hotels on the beach, get a PO Box, and call it a day! If I am really going to do this, it is go big or go home!! I don't need these things around me. When did my dresser dictate my being? We buy things to serve a need. I needed that dresser to hold my clothes. It did a good job ... *good job dresser!* Now it is time for a down size ... bye bye dresser!!
My dresser does not own me, nor do I own my dresser! I realized with that infestation back in the day, that you may work really really really hard for things, and think they are yours, only to one day be sorely mistaken.
I am downsizing my life to pretty much everything that is corporate sponsored. David and Goliath are sending me a whole crap ton of new clothes. I went to Buffalo Exchange yesterday to exchange the rest and pick up some new vintage studs. I'm digging this lifestyle!!!!!! The modern day minimalist!! Monetizing websites as a way of life!!!
Alrite, alrite - I kid ... but for reals - I am very matter of fact on this site, this is my absolute way of everything I call "life." I very literally do eat sleep and breathe this stuff. I LOVE every minute of it! I've always wanted to do something like this, and you guys just gave me a pretty bitchin excuse to do so!!!
Plus, living at the beach when I am in town is going to be AWESOMEEEEE!!!! =)
What does this have to do with Bangladesh you ask?? WELL!! While I was packing yesterday, feeling a little funky about this change into the complete unknown ... I shut my brain off for a moment and said "stop it brain! This has to work. I feel it." Life is illogical. Trying to dictate logic into it is just flat out retarded. I know what I am doing is nutso, but then again so am I! I am willing to try anything in life - and if not now, when?
I then went to my client's WHO is the creator of a MASSIVELY popular household name TV show. No for reals ... you know it ... and prolly have lusted over being on it. I was sitting in the lobby waiting for him and one of the employees came out saying "if anyone knows someone who wants to go to Bangladesh and has an online following, let me know." I KID. YOU. NOT.
I of course piped up and said ummm hi!! =) Explained that I was part of the Fiesta Movement, and also had a wildly popular website. About 2.5 seconds later an email was already being drafted ...
Hi Jen,
Please see below for the program information, and have anyone who may be interested contact xxxxx at the details below. This was sent when we were regarding TV media, but I believe high-traffic web travel bloggers and print journalists would also be considered.
xxxxxxx,
Ms. Friel is a journalist who writes mostly online and is working with our CEO. She also chronicles her US travels on www.fiestamovement.com.
Cheers,

Hi xxxxx,
We would like to have a reporter, journalist or news personality visit
Bangladesh to create awareness about the country. It is
a 3 day program one in April and one in September. It will give them a
chance to meet with local media, see cultural events, learn about the
foreign policy,
trade and investement interactions. They will also receive an exclusive
tour of Dhaka, the capital city. They can travel with their cameras and
shoot part of their trip as a documentary, take photos, interview people
and make your own story and report it back to the USA. This will be an all
expense paid trip to Bangladesh.
Thank you,
Present moment magic, folks!!! I didn't know what my next step was going to be, but I knew it wasn't here. I knew I needed to be traveling, but didn't quite know how it was going to happen. You don't HAVE to know HOW! You just have to be PRESENT!!!!! SO EFFIN GNARLY!!
Will let you all know more as this unfolds ... but looks like the Unapologetically Awesome Spring/ Summer 2010 Tour is going to BANGLADESH!!! =) =) =)
