Trends schmends which way ya bend ....

 Working in social media is the strangest thing I have ever done (and that says a LOT!). I spend 17 hours a day inside people's brains. I read tweets, status updates, check-ins, its incredible how much you can learn from people - and learn about yourself!!! 

I've always picked up on trends. It's this weird thing that has been deeply engrained in my DNA since the 1st grade. I wore my hair half up one day in this weird looking pony tail thing - and to my mother's horror, I walked out the door and strutted my bad @ss little self into class. I think my mother was expecting me to come home in tears, at how awful I looked. However, to her surprise - I wasn't teased, I was copied. The next day, a bunch of the girls in my class tried out my little hair style. It was so effin cool! 

I share this with you, because working in social media has only amplified that effect. The trendsetters of the world now can affect people with their styles and attitudes all over the world IRT (in real time). No longer are we limited to our immediate peers; we have expanded to our extended network - and their extended network ... and their extended network ... and so on ... and so on ... 

It's INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What are we seeing now in fashion?

Well, I will tell you this - I said late last summer that everyone was going to be rockin 90s style flannel in the near future. (Of course flannel is always a staple in the fall - but we're now watching it explode in the spring. When the heck has that happened??!) 

Belts - belts ... HUGE!!! big belts - worn around the waist. & Off the shoulder shirts - again, I've been rockin these now for a few months. I am completely convinced I subconsciously picked up on trends I saw in social media. 

Alrite, alrite, so what are the next trends??? 

PRINTS!! Expect big crazy hippie prints. Think 80s meets 60s. The new hippie is nerdy, baby!!!! Lots of free flowing skirts with a nerdy tee - bold printed dresses with belts, and messenger bags. Dude, LA has gone COMPLETELY nerdy!! It is INSANE!!! 

I remember when a promoter approached me back in December to host my birthday party, I said the only way I would do it is if he would host a nerdy party. He said no one wants to be a nerd in LA.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!! Tolllllddddd yaaaaa!!!! =) 

Anywhooo, this is what I see. And I don't think I'm special - I'm just awesome. I notice a lot of CRAZY COOL shiznat, and it's just absolutely bitchin that I have a platform to speak on. For that I thank YOU, you nerdy lovers. Rawwrrrrrr!!! =) 

Oh and PS. I don't own a single magazine subscription - haven't been to a single fashion show ... nor do I even read any of those magazines online. This shiznat is 100% social ... social media, yo! =)
