#TipsforChicks: Masturbation

Alrite, so the loverly @JenSquard posted earlier today on masturbation. Totally rad, we talk about shit like that round these parts not for titillation, but just incredibly matter of fact that this is what works for me, yada yada yada. It's lifecasting peoples. Lots of "I" statements.

That being said ... I could not have disagreed more with the post. Masturbation yes, is a bit taboo - but get over it. For real ... right now ... just say the word masturbation out loud. Ready ... set .... GO!! Masturbation masturbation masturbation. Feel better? We've desensitized it a bit.

I masturbate. I'm single, and I get so excited every.single.day. to be alive, that that level of excitement effects my enttiiirreeeeeeeee eeennnttiiirreeeee body. I can't help it.

However, even times when I have been in committed relationships, I still masturbated. Masturbation to me different than sex. Sex is an expression of an emotional connection through in a very literal sense a physical one. I don't always want to have to please my partner - sometimes I just need my me time. I know what revs my engines, and although partners in the past have been amazing at doing it as well, its just different.

Think of masturbation like this, somedays you're in the mood for chocolate ice cream, and somedays you're in the mood for vanilla. No matter what it's ice cream but the flavor you fancy is dependent upon different factors.

I can also say (again, notice all of the I statements that I am making) I am damn good in bed. I am like crazy freaky awesome. But that's because I know what turns me on. Guys need directions! How can you tell them where to go if you've never been there yourself?

Our bodies are an expression of art. It's nothing to be ashamed of; it's pleasure and should be enjoyed for the simple fact that it exists!! Things can only remain taboo if you give them the power of not talking about it.
