Social Media needs a "rebound" status

There is no doubt that Facebook and other popular social media sites have changed the way we live. From how we receive information, to pictures we share and videos we watch; the world has become a smaller place.

With this community of built in support from your friends and family, why not use it for something useful? How many times can you really read "doing the laundry, walking the dog ... "

World, check this out: If you find your life boring, chances are good we will too! We don't want to read that either!

I received a lot of "high-fives" after I stopped seeing the last guy I dated (aside from the fact that the guy is a douche and they didn't like him anyway) - I did something a bit unconventional. I called upon my 500 friend/ family support network. I sent out a plea in the form of a Facebook note speaking to not only being hurt, but that if anyone sees me, or hears me talking about him, texting him, calling him, that I need to be hit. Hard. I knew that this person had such control over me the one thing that was going to keep me grounded was the constant reminder of reality.

Instead of posting my ideal self, the idea of this fabulous virtual life, I posted the truth. Simple. Honest. Could this be a new role in social media networking? Find a job, find a boyfriend, if you break up - we'll get you not only a rebound but wipe your tears away. Something that I viewed as an extremely humbling experience has in turn felt better than I could have possibly imagined.
"How to make it in life" ... be honest. Everything starts with honesty.
