Merging Ads and Content

I just had this thought ... How does Mashable make money since they have no ads on their site?

Yeah, really brilliant thought since they have SO much advertising on their site
.. but it woke me up to the fact that they could have some of the best web ad placement I've ever seen.
Think about it, I check that site MULTIPLE times a day, and in recalling information about it in my brain, all I could think about was the content. I didn't even separate the content from the ads.

We forget that people like to buy, but they don't like to be sold to. When ads are relevant to the demographic there shouldn't be a separation of ad space vs. content.

Wooowww, if that's not success then I don't know what is.
What a great epiphany to have at 5:30 am!
