Digital segregation?

Call me crazy, but I am starting to see this growing divide between digital peeps, and so called "normies." With everyone struggling to make ends meet these days, in the digital world - the recession is non-existent. I have never seen more money being put into online advertising, app creation, site development, etc. The digital world could not be expanding fast enough, even if the physical realm is crumbling.

I find this divide to be even more apparent with the film Avatar (I still have yet to see it, btw). Avatar came in number one at the box office this weekend grossing $73 million, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com.

Depending on who you listen to, word on the blogs is that the film cost upwards of $500 million to create. An interesting time to release a film with such an excessive price tag.

If you look at it from the fantasy stand point, we all need to get our mind off of the times, and $12 for a 2.5 hour escape into a visually stimulating adventure might be just what the doctor ordered. Or is it just giving us another passport into second life, while forgetting about the first?
