Droid Review
I've really been dragging my heels on writing this review, as I was so FRIGGEN EXCITED about Droid day! However, like a virgin on her wedding night, I was filled with disappointment.
First! Power of positivity ... lets start off with what I like about it:
The camera is amazing. 5MP, plus flash, pretty solid.
The speaker is impressive. Quality of the sound isn't as "tin canny" and on full blast is very loud.
Ok, now with the good comes the bad ...
The apps are horrid. To have an app where you can find out nothing but Taylor Swift news is just flat out weird.
The Twittdroid app doesn't pull any of my DMs and is very, very, slow to pull my @messages.
The Facebook app is a flat out joke. There is no Facebook chat, you can't check your email, nor can you click on a link that someone posted on their profile. It doesn't know how to recognize two links in one box. Ugh.
I view the app store like a really big playground. However, it's currently unassembled. Has a lot of potential, but it's definitely not there yet.
The mechanics of the phone are spotty at best. I have hung up on 80% of the people I have actually called on it. You can't juggle things in your hands and balance the phone between your ear and your shoulder, it will hang up. Bastards ...
The battery!!!! Everyone complains about it, but WOW is it bad. It crashed only 5 hours into my birthday, which was a true test as you have an absurd amount of calls, messages, and emails ... completely failed.
The keyboard, which was one of the main reasons why I got it. I need a QWERTY keyboard, I hate touch screens for typing. I need to feel the markers on the J and F keys, as I type well over 100 WPM. I literally cannot use that keyboard, I have to hold the phone in landscape and use my two thumbs to type on the touch screen. It is very squished together, and the keys are not separated well enough to feel comfortable. It's just awkward! Needless to say, I take forever to text someone back.
It's already had a system update ... I don't know what happened after the system update it made me do, but now it's even slower. When I first got it a few weeks ago, man oh man, that thing was lightning fast.
I have to return my current handset, as this could be a malfunction in the actual handset, but this is just my experience. Don't get me wrong, I love that I can have my information on the go, and the general feel of the phone ... however it fell so unbelievably short of my expectations.
I'm only going to give the Droid Two out of Four Crapsicles.
Has potential, but man like an orgasm, it's so close, and yet so far ...
