For those of you that haven’t heard, LeBron James has decided to sign with the Miami Heat. This will put King James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh on the same team; that’s three Olympic gold medalists from the 2008 Olympic games. That’s just dirty.
James, Bosh, and Wade entered the draft in 2003 earning the 1st, 4th, and 5th pick respectively.
6’10”, 230 lb, power forward, Chris Bosh is no newcomer to the spotlight. The five time Allstar, Olympic medalist, and star player of the Toronto Raptors has turned a lot of heads. He left for the Heat as Toronto’s leader in points, rebounds, blocks, double-doubles, and free throws.
6’4”, 220 lb, guard, Dwyane Wade is the only one of these three superstars that has actually won a championship. Wade was able to hand that oh-so-glorious banner in Miami Heat’s American Airline Arena after winning the championship in 2006 with Shaq. A ring isn’t Wade’s only claim to faim; he is also a 6 time Allstar as well as leading scorer of the 2008-2009 season. He knows how to ball.
LeBron’s decision was driven by his desire to win. The chance to have the supporting cast he needs to win a championship was presented and he took it. Who can blame him? Natives of Cleveland have lost their hope of their first championship since the Browns won the Superbowl in 1964. As a native of Los Angeles, I’m purple and gold through and through, but if Kobe isn’t going to take home that ring, I wouldn’t mind LeBron joining the ranks of few who have.
