It’s funny, last night at my favorite watering hole, I had a guy admit to googling me at the bar.
Which was really weird, because his admitting “it” felt as weird as him saying “it.”
Interesting choice, and while I appreciated the honesty, what he didn’t know is who I was sitting next to. MY FRIEND WHO INVENTED THE LIGHT BASED GPS USED TO LAND THE MARS ROVER!!!!
It’s okay, I’m prettier, so I get it.
Either way, he looked up my IMDB profile and saw I was on the West Texas Investors Club.
He then asked about Robert Duvall (who is the voice over narrator on WTIC).
“How was it working with him?” he asked.
I said “I didn’t know. I know he and Rooster and Butch are best friends (meaning Rooster McConaughey and Butch Gilliam stars of WTIC).
“I do know Rooster has him programmed in his phone with a very lovely nickname. I know that because I was holding his phone (ON THE FLOOR OF THE NEW YORK STOCK EXCHANGE) while the guys were being interviewed for the CNBC press tour for the show.
“I also know for their podcast I WAS THEIR OPENING EPISODE and Robert was the FOLLOW UP.
Technically ten episodes after.
“Top 10 for coolest moments of my life, but no, I do not know him.”
THEN, this morning, I had my phone on Do Not Disturb, but saw a missed call from BUTCH!
Which isn’t abnormal, we do our checkins, I was just surprised as we had just chatted a few weeks back.
THEN, (also this morning) I opened up my email and see that TODAY my interview went live on the business that I do (in general) but most specifically related to Texas.
So, there you go.
I get asked about the guys a lot, but never about Robert Duvall, and I definitely haven’t had a location based interview go live within the same 24 hours as a phone call from the person I JUST talked about.
Many thanks!! If you want to check out the interview, click here.
If you want to hear the podcast check it out here.
And here’s a post on the last time I saw the guys, back in April, where their best friend (and my mentor) had his ashes spread over his own funeral.
Oh! Oh! And I met Jack Dorsey and Rick Rubin (here’s a post on reading their body language).
